Passed away peacefully in Upper Hutt on Friday 10th July 2026, aged 93 years. Dearly loved husband of Mary (dec) for 62 years. Loved second son of Winifred & Charles Carter (both dec) and brother and brother-in-law of Michael and Jill (both dec), Mary & John (both dec), Judy & John (dec) - all in England; Norah (dec) and Bernard (dec). Loved son-In-law of Eileen & Godfrey (Tim) Healy (both dec). Loved father and father-in-law of Gerald & Debby, Christine & Greg, Richard & Kathryn, Paul & Karen, Terry, and John. Loved Poppa of Michelle & Paolo, Stephen & Erin; Samantha & Alexandra; Vikki (dec), James, Joseph & Matthew; Ashley & Luke. Much-loved Great-Poppa to Austin, Phelix, Eli & Leon-Joel; Eva & Luka; Giselle; Ed & Theo; Navana; and Cameron. Special thanks to the staff at Heritage Lifecare St Joseph's Home of Compassion for their years of care for David. The service will be livestreamed with access available on David's online profile via the website below. Messages to the family may also be made via this profile. The Rosary will be recited at St Joseph's Convent Chapel, Gibbons Street, Upper Hutt, on Tuesday 21st July at 7.00pm. A requiem mass to celebrate David's life will be held at St Joseph's Catholic Church, 1 Pine Avenue, Upper Hutt, on Wednesday 22nd July 2026 at 11.00am, followed by a burial at Akatarawa Cemetery.
