Peacefully passed away at Wellington Hospital on 27 July 2026, aged 89 years, surrounded by her loving family, after a long life defined by kindness, generosity, and devotion to others. Beloved wife of the late Thomas Cranney. Loved mother of Thomas, Paul, Peter, Stephen, Christopher (dec), Susan, Marian, Margaret, Christine and John. Treasured mother-in-law of Elizabeth, Carolyn, Jenny, Cat, Phillip and Sarah. Cherished Granny Cranney to Helen, Thomas, Claire, Stephen, Kate, Catherine, Ann-Louise, Frances, Damian, Nicholas, Tessa, Michelle, Christopher, Bernadette, Christopher, David, Paul, Simon, Daniel, Daniel, Michael, Patrick, Joshua, and Jazmin. Dearly loved great-grandmother of Nathanael, Matilda, Oliver, James, Benjamin, Mason, Asher, Stella, Marika, Noah, Scarlett, Freya, Douglas, Manuela, Callan, Alex, James, Glyn, Samuel, Julius, Annabelle, Mikayla, Alice, Emily, Laura, Felix and Helena. Precious aunty to many, and a dear friend to many more. Our family extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who cared for Mum throughout the later part of her life, especially her friends in the Tawa Catholic and wider community, the compassionate Memory Care staff at Summerset on the Landing, and the dedicated team at Wellington Regional Hospital who cared for her over the last two weeks. Your kindness, compassion and respect ensured that Mum's life was honoured until the very end.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the St Vincent de Paul Society would be appreciated and may be left at the service. A Requiem Mass to celebrate Margaret's life will be held at Our Lady Of Fatima Church, Tawa, on Saturday, 1st August, at 9.00am, followed by interment at Whenua Tapu Cemetery, Pukerua Bay. The Rosary will be prayed at Our Lady Of Fatima Church, on Friday, 31st July, at 6.30pm.
