On Monday 20th July 2026, Jane passed, aged 62, after a brave and hard-fought five-year battle with breast cancer at the Mary Potter Hospice in Newtown, Wellington. Beloved wife of Peter. Much-loved mother of Poppy and Ruby. Loved sister of Mel, Anna, and Andrew, and daughter of Sue French and Kevin Hughes. Jane was a fabulous teacher who spent her career at local schools across New Zealand and abroad, touching the lives of hundreds of children.

She will be missed, and forever in our hearts.

Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Wellington Hospital and the Mary Potter Hospice for their care and compassion.
