Duncan passed away peacefully on Saturday 20 June 2026, aged 92 years. A long-time resident of Karehana Bay, he was the much-loved husband of Ruth MacLean (dec) for 62 years. He was a devoted father to Andrew, Fiona (dec), and Sarah, and their partners Helen (dec) and Ian. Duncan was a cherished grandfather to Simon, Thomas, Maddie, and Shaun; Great-Grandfather to Isabella and George. Loved brother-in-law to Derry, June (dec), Beryl (dec), Moria (dec), Jennifer and Ian.

Deeply loved, he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

The family sincerely thanks the dedicated staff of Ward 6 at Wellington Hospital, as well as the caring teams at Whitby Lakes Village, Whitby Pharmacy and the Whitby GP practices for their support. In lieu of flowers, donations to Mary Potter Hospice (marypotter.org.nz) or Wellington Free Ambulance (wfa.org.nz) would be appreciated and may be made online. A service to celebrate Duncan's life will be held at the Whenua Tapu Crematorium Chapel, Airlie Road, Pukerua Bay, on Saturday 27 June, commencing at 10.30am.
