Passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, on Sunday, 2 August 2026, aged 84 years. Much-loved husband of the late Penny. Adored father of Kate, Richard and Charlotte, and father-in-law of Mike. Cherished Poppa of Eva, Zoe, Hudson, Saxon and Gus. Mischief-making identical twin brother of Noel (dec) and brother-in-law of Maureen. Life-long supporter and member of the Marist Rugby Club. Mr B, Mr Barr and Mr Barbie to countless friends over the years. Poppa, we know you missed Granny too much to stay with us, and we are taking comfort in knowing you are together again, dancing among the stars and toasting us with a Waikato Green alongside Uncle Noel. We will miss you beyond words and hold you forever in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial donations to Alzheimer's New Zealand in support of the work they do for people living with dementia and their families. A vigil for Brian will be held at the family home on Thursday, 6 August at 5.30pm. A Requiem Mass for Brian will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, 197 Broadway Avenue, Palmerston North on Friday 7 August 2026 at 1.30pm, followed by a private cremation.
