On 26 September 2026, peacefully, at Taupo Hospital. Aged 86 years. Dearly loved wife of Arthur Burnett, and the late Neil Smith. Loved mother and mother-in-law of Andrea Hockly and partner David Gladwin, Lloyd Hockly (deceased), and Dean and Sandra Higgins-Smith. Loved stepmother and stepmother-in-law of Kevin and Catherine Burnett, Greg and Mary Burnett, Lynne and Kevin Smith, and Anne Doughty and partner Evan Green. Much loved Nana of Sam Hockly, Jessica Hockly, George Higgins-Smith, and Andre Higgins-Smith. Great-grandmother of Rosie and Sadie.

A private cremation has been held.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Elaine's life will be held at Acacia Court, 2 Jarden Mile, Taupo, on 17 October at 2.00pm.
