Winston SMALLEY

Passed away peacefully on September 9, 2026, aged 85 years, at Ernest Rutherford Rest Home, Nelson. Dearly loved and sadly missed by his four children Deborah, Phillip, Vivien and Warner, his five grandchildren Michael, DeArna, Myles, Ellen and Benjamin, and his very good friend Shelley Henderson. John was a talented mechanic and inventive mind and gifted manufacturer of many things – some remarkably useful and others simply created for the fun of it. A great enthusiast of beer, car racing and fishing, John lived life on his own terms, a non-conformer who loved to break the rules. Good natured, good fun and the teller of very, very long stories.

He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
