Died after a short stay in Auckland Hospital, on July 27, 2026, aged 89 years. Beloved husband of Margaret for 60 years. Much loved father and father-in-law of Sandra and the late Grant Close and Katherine and David Freeman-Greene. Cherished grandfather of Jessica, Emily and Edward Close and Daniel and Thomas Freeman-Greene. Grandfather-in-law to Rob Webb, Richard Mulvey and Olivier Thomson. Proud great-grandfather to Wilfred, Margaret and Barbara Mulvey and Francis and Julian Webb. A service to celebrate Michael's life will be held at St Mary's in Holy Trinity Cathedral, 446 Parnell Road, Parnell, on Monday, August 3, at 1.00pm. Livestream: www.sibuns.co.nz
