Passed away peacefully on August 20 2026, aged 84 years, in Christchurch, late of Rangiora. Dearly loved wife of the late James 'Jim' Toohey; cherished and respected mother and mother-in-law of Kim, Michael and Guiping, and Melissa. Much-loved 'Granny' to Shiping and Jonathon, and proud great-grandmother to Gene. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Richard and the late Merle, Marc and Jan, Kevin and Marion Roberts, who was welcomed into Jim's family by the late Herbert 'Bill' Toohey (Hokitika), Dennis and the late Colleen Needham, Ray and Joy Toohey, and the late David Toohey. A loved aunt, great-aunt, friend, and involved community member. Jan's children wish to acknowledge and thank staff at Bainlea, Rangiora, and Admatha in Shirley, Christchurch, respectively, for their unwavering support and constant care over the past 18 months. Jan will be laid to rest 'at home' at Culverden Cemetery in a private ceremony.

A celebration of Jan's life will be held at St. John's Anglican Church, Rangiora, in October - notice to follow. Messages and remembrances to the Toohey family, C/- 30 Palmers Road, New Brighton, Christchurch 8083.
