Died 6 September 2026Posted 13 September 2026

It is with great sadness we inform family and friends of the passing of James (Jim) Henry Fisher on September 6, 2026, aged 85 years. Much loved son of the late May and James Fisher. Loved husband of the late Marie Fisher (nee Courtney) (October 9, 2024). Loved brother and brother-in-law of the late Judy (nee Fisher) and Graham Hau, loved half-brother of John Prime. Loved father and father-in-law to Liza and Alex, Mason and Niki, beloved Poppa to Emma and Sarah. Much loved Uncle to the Courtney, Hau, Harrington and Corlet families, and good friend, ex-team mate to many. A huge thanks and love to all the cousins and friends (you know who you are) that have been of immense support to Jim, Liza and Mason during his life and in passing. Thank you also to the extended NZ and Canterbury Rugby League community for sharing their great friendship, good memories and kind thoughts - all is very much appreciated. Also, a special mention to Hamish and Amanda and the fantastic staff at Homestead Care Ilam for looking after Dad so well over his last years and also the fantastic nurses and doctors of Ward A3 at Christchurch Hospital - you are all heroes - thank you for your unconditional care.

A celebration in Christchurch of both Jim and Marie Fisher's life is being planned for sometime between late October and mid November. Those that wish to be notified to attend (when this is organised), or for any messages, please email: fisherfamilyJM2026@gmail.com
