Aged 91 years

Porotiti (Paul) Rimene passed away on July 30, 2026, in Masterton, surrounded by his loving whānau.

Born in Masterton, Porotiti (Paul) went to St Stephens College in Auckland until he got homesick. He was a devout follower of the Moreahu Ratana faith. He spent most of his working life at the Waingawa freezing works, then as a shearer with his other 6 brothers and his father as their boss. Porotiti (Paul) also did a short stint as a carpenter apprentice. He was an avid rugby player and supporter of the Pioneer Rugby Club and served as the club captain for over 15 years. was a life member for the last 5 years. He also coached J A B teams. In his later years he played lawn bowls with his brothers Kuki and Tommy. He played competitively with his brothers for the Lansdowne Bowling Club then the Masterton Bowling Club.

He is survived by his wife Hine, his beloved children are the late Carol, Tina, Ru, Paul, Willy, Roimata, the late Aroha, Kelvin, Pori and many mokopuna.

Dad will lie at home 81 Cockburn St until Sunday 2 August. Set times to pay your respects are the following :
