Passed away in the tender care of Gore Hospital staff, on Saturday, August 22, 2026, with his loving family by his side, aged 86 years. Dearly loved husband and best friend of Edith* for over 60 years, much loved dad of Andrew and Fiona (Oamaru), Ken (Auckland), Jo and Terry (Lake Hawea), much loved Grandad of Callum, Lachlan, and Isabel, Larissa and Daniel, Regan and Meg, treasured Great-Grandad of Isla, and Maddi. Dearly loved and special brother and brother-in-law of Duncan* MacGregor, Jim and Margaret Lamb, and families, all the Murray's and extended families, dearly loved son of Jo* and Jock* MacGregor.

"Gone to be with Shorty"

A private family service for John will be held at Charlton Park Cemetery. A celebration of John's life will be held at the Hokonui Bowling Club on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 2.00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations would be gratefully received for Hokonui St John Ambulance at his service. Messages to 100 Broughton Street, Gore 9710.
