With heavy hearts, we announce that Garry passed away peacefully at Southland Hospice on June 28, 2026, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle. Cherished Papa of Laken and Daniel Simmons. Much-loved partner of Tonya Maniapoto. Loved stepfather, uncle, treasured Grandad and Great-Grandad. Known to many as "Bucko" by his extended family and friends. A lifelong mate of Paul Attwell. A celebration of Gary's life will be at the Salvation Army, 29 Victoria Avenue, Invercargill, at 2.00pm on July 1, followed by a private cremation. Messages to 95 Hoffman Court, Invercargill 9810, or may be left on Garry's tribute page at distinctfunerals.co.nz where a livestream can be found.
