Kelly Grootveld

GROOTVELD, Kelly Justin. 28.12.70 - 27.08.26 Kelly was born in Whanganui to Kieron and Makuini (Karauria). A brother to the late Kerry, and Vianca (Bali). He attended Tawhero, Rutherford Intermediate and Whanganui High School. When he was 17, Kelly left Whanganui and spent a year in Sydney before he moved to Perth WA. In 1994 Kelly graduated from the WA Police Academy, and spent two years on country service in Carnarvon. He returned to Bunbury Detectives Office, where his 30 years service was as Detective Senior Constable. Kelly and Louise Bell became parents to Jake and Nicola. Kieron and his partner Bronia Butler were close to Kelly in WA and are extremely proud of his accomplishments. Despite Kelly's long and hard battle with cancer, he remained positive and quiet in his resolve to beat the disease.. His last wish was to be returned home to Whangnaui to be interred with his older brother. Kelly's children and extended whanau will miss him.
