TINNING, Mary Ann Winifred. Mary, passed away, 'just before the sun came up' , peacefully, on Monday, 15 June, aged 81 years old, at James Wattie hospital care centre. Loved wife of the late Robert Tinning (who passed away 6 April, 2026) Loved Mum of Allison, Mark and Andrea. Adored mother-in-law of Mark Brader and Kelly Taylor. Treasured Grannie of Oliver and Robbie. Dear sister of the late Beryl Perrie and the late Alec Paterson, Sister-in-law of Joan and Allan, Ngaire and the late Ross, Noel and Margaret, Ngaire and Graham. Our Mum was cherished by our extended family and held dear by her close friendships. Mum grew up on a farm in Oringi, Dannevirke and was married to our Dad for 60+ years. She trained as a maternity nurse and was a wonderful hard-working mother to her own three children. Our Mum touched the lives of many families over the 20 years she owned and operated Picket Corner Child Care from our large old family home. As 'Grannie', our Mum loved her Grandsons, Oliver and Robbie, reading books, baking, playing and making up games. Our Mum was heavily involved in Girl Guides, as a leader and later with Trefoil. She was also involved in the Hawkes Bay Ballet and Dance, supporting opportunities for young dancers. Mum was incredibly organized and made all homemade meals and clothes, knitting many a baby blanket or making jewellery pouches, a wonderful gardener and she grew beautiful orchids. She was known for her delicious peanut brownies and custard squares. She was honest, practical, loyal, and creative…we will miss you always Mum. A special thank you to all the caring staff at James Wattie in Havelock North, the Enliven Team and Miranda Smith Homecare..we will never forget their love and care of our mother. We are having a COMBINED funeral/ Celebration of both our parents, Mary Tinning and Robert Tinning on Saturday, July 4th at 2pm at the Havelock North Function Centre, Magdalinos Room.
