Peacefully on July 17, 2026, in Christchurch, surrounded by his family, aged 81 years. Dearly loved husband and soulmate of Rea for 39 years, loved brother and brother-in-law of Brian and Noeline (both deceased), and Marilyn and Bob Pomare. Loved by all his extended family. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cancer Society would be appreciated, and may be made online at cancer.org.nz.

A celebration of Russell's life will be held at Oaklands, corner Halswell Junction and Wigram Roads, Halswell, on Friday, July 24, at 2.30pm.
