Passed away peacefully at Nurse Maude Hospice, with family by his side, on July 9, 2026, aged 69 years. Dearly loved husband of Lynette, much loved father and father-in-law of Sam and Julia, Kalena, Ash and Kayte, and Mitch and Hannah. Loved Grandad of Robert; Kai, Indi, and Tayla; Owen, and Evelyn; Pax, Millie, and Lex. Loved son of Les and Bette (both deceased), loved brother and brother-in-law of Ross and Joan (both deceased), Lorri and Gordie, and Jo and Graeme. Loved son-in-law of Ann and the late Bob Sutherland, loved brother-in-law of Mark and Al, Ali and Stu, and the late Lisa. Loved uncle, great-uncle, and cousin. Respected friend and former husband of Jenny.

Special thanks to the staff at Nurse Maude Hospice, and the Haematology Team at Christchurch Hospital for the wonderful care and support given to Richard and family. A service to celebrate Richard's life will be held at Wai-mana, 92 Kippenberger Avenue, Rangiora, on Wednesday, July 15, at 2.30pm, followed by a private cremation.
