Richard Barton Obituary

Richard Barton passed away on August 10, 2026. Richard leaves behind family members and others who acknowledge this loss. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Virginia; his children, Anna, Cindy, David Douglas, Fiona, William Stevens, Rick, Leanne Johnson, Tig of George, Sophie, Polly, Ben, Lucy, James, Richard, Angus and Georgia; and his cousin Ann Quin.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 20th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Christchurch Transitional Cathedral (234 Hereford Street, Christchurch Central City, Christchurch 8011, New Zealand).

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Christ Church Cathedral Reinstatement Project in memory of Richard would be appreciated and may be made online at: christchurchcathedral.org.nz/support-us/donate (https://christchurchcathedral.org.nz).
