POWELL, Michael John. Died peacefully, surrounded by his family in Auckland, aged 80. Emeritus Professor Griffith University, Queensland, Australia; graduate and former Deputy Dean of Business School of the University of Auckland. Beloved husband of Heather (Polly) Parker. Previously married to Susan Jennifer nee Patience. Father of Oliver John and Tobias (Toby) Innis and daughters-in-law, Melissa and Rosemarie. Step-Dad to Justine, and Simone and Barrie. Poppa to Anya, Theo, Jackson, Maia, Bonnie, Sophia, Leo, Zoe, Connor, and Phoebe. Great-Poppa to Eliza and Otto. Brother to Patricia, Kerry, Jill, and Jo. Son of the late John (Jack) and Susan (nee Halliday) Powell. A boy from Te Puke who travelled the world, making dear friends at every stop. An accomplished scholar and academic leader. A loving husband, father, brother and cousin. A wonderful and loyal friend to many. A cyclist and walker. Faithful (even to the Blues), hopeful, maker of memories, lover of life, and the goodness that is all around. We had a great ride and time now to rest in the sun. Funeral to be held at All Saints Chapel, Purewa, 100 St Johns Road, Meadowbank on Monday 17 August at 12pm.
