Maxine passed away unexpectedly in Hawera on Sunday 20th September 2026, aged 84 years. Best friend and loving wife for 62 years of Trevor. Adored and cherished mum of Dean and Michelle, Craig and Paula, and Janine and Shaan Kelly. Much loved Granny of her 7 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Friends are warmly invited to join Maxine's family in celebrating her life at Tairoa Lodge, 3 Puawai Street, Hawera, on Thursday 24th September 2026, commencing at 1.00pm, after which a private cremation will be held. With heavy hearts, Bill's whanau sadly advise that at the age of 87 years, Bill is now reunited with his beloved "pearl of the reef" Leila. Son of the late George and Joan. Brother of Judy and Bill Richards, and Jenny and the late David Sims. Much loved dad of Steven and Meredith, Karen and Robyn Ngaia, Geoff and Deanne. Loved Koko Bill to his seven moko, twelve mokomoko, and one mokomokomoko. Whanau and friends are warmly invited to a gathering to remember and farewell Batch on Tuesday 22nd September 2026 at the TSB Hub, Waihi Road Hawera, commencing at 11.00am. QSM, JP (Rtd) Laurel, Heather, Bruce and Ian and families, and the Gilligan families, wish to say thank you for the tremendous outpouring of love we have received during Tom's/Dad's illness, at the time of his funeral and since. There have been many messages, phone calls, cards, gifts, flowers, baking, visits to our homes, visits to Tainui for the last 8 months and your presence at the funeral service - we are just so deeply appreciative of your kindness and care. To Rev Sally Carter for leading the service so well, Rev. Tahi Kato for the beautiful burial service, tributes from Aileen Joyce, Barry Smith on behalf of the Manaia RSA, the Last Post tribute, the Kaponga Fire Brigade for their guard of honour and Bev Marx for the wonderful floral arrangement on the casket- our heartfelt thanks to you all. We know that Tom/Dad would be so proud of the tributes and the large number of people who attended the service from near and far. To the amazing staff at Tainui Rest Home who looked after Tom/Dad with such love and care - we are eternally grateful. We also acknowledge the lovely residents for making him feel a treasured friend. Many thanks to the caregivers and hospice nurses who helped with Tom's/Dad's care prior to him going into the Rest Home. Finally, thanks to Hardings Funerals for the kindness and care shown to us prior to the funeral and on the day. It was fitting that Kelly had worked with Dad at the beginning of her career and was now putting him to rest with the sensitivity he deserved. Please accept this as our personal thank you. I know Tom/Dad would finish with 'GOD BLESS YOU ALL'

Athol's children, John Porteous, Kay Daly, and Jacqui Porteous, warmly invite family and friends to attend a small service celebrating his life at Harding's Funeral Chapel Hawera, on Monday 14 September 2026, commencing at 11.00am.
