Loved mother and mother-in-law of Theresa and Llew, Janice and Grant, Reginald and Kerry, Adrian and Sandy. Adored Nana of 11 grandchildren and 17+ great grandchildren. A celebration of Barbara's life will be held in the Whakatane Crematorium Chapel, Ohope Road, Whakatane on Monday 17th August at 2pm. HORWOOD, Hannah. On Wednesday 12th August 2026, peacefully at Mountain View Rest Home, aged 92, latterly of King Street, Whakatane. Beloved wife of Ernie, for 71 years. Much loved mother and mother-in-law of Robyn, Joy and Paul, Gaye and Jeremy, Eric and Debbie. Adored 'Nana Hannah' to her 11 grandchildren and 15 great- grandchildren. A celebration of Hannah's life will be held in the chapel of Willetts Funeral Services, 21 King Street, Whakatane on Tuesday 18th August at 11am followed by a private cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to The Child Cancer Foundation and may be left at the service. She was loved by so many, and while our hearts are broken, she would never have wanted a fuss or for people to mourn her. Instead, she would want us all to come together to celebrate a life well lived, filled with love, laughter, and wonderful memories. Thank you for all the love and support during this difficult time. Mum you were gone too soon, but you will be deeply missed, never forgotten and loved forever. Cherished mother of Gordon, Rachel, Lydia, Martin, Simon, Hugh (dec), and their families. Kath will be laying at Simon's home in Thornton until her funeral service at Bridge Street Christian Centre, Bridge Street, Whakatane on Thursday 9th July at 10.30am followed by burial at Hillcrest Cemetery, to be reunited with Don. 2 Timothy 4:7: "She fought the good fight, she finished the race, she kept the faith." STANSBURY, David John Balfour (Dave). On Thursday, 2 July 2026, peacefully at Golden Pond Private Hospital Whakatane aged 86 years. Dearly loved Husband of Jan. Much loved father and father in law of Troy, and Heidi and Patrick. Adored grandad of Jess, Sam, Fern, Summer, Zara, Ruben, Danielle, Ned, Tynealle, Rikki and Max. Most treasured great grandad of his many beautiful great grandchildren. A respected leader in the shearing community, he "sheared" his knowledge as a shearing instructor, trained future generations, earned the honour of judging shearing competitions, and proudly served on the Shearing Wool Board, leaving a lasting legacy in the industry he loved. A celebration of David's life will be held in the chapel of Willetts Funeral Services, 21 King Street, Whakatane, on Monday, 6 July at 11am, followed by private cremation.
