Dearly loved nana and great-grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Taranaki are gratefully accepted. A service to celebrate Valerie's life will be held at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 90 Miranda Street, Stratford, on Monday 5 October 2026 at 11.00am, followed by her burial at Kopuatama Cemetery.

On Sunday, 27 September 2026, after 35 years of continual strength, determination and tenacity, Tiny was finally released from his journey, surrounded by the love, laughter and familiar faces of those closest to him. Loved son of Gay and the late Malcolm. Loved brother of Vicky-Lee. Loved uncle of Jac's and Ethan, favourite old uncle of Cane, Shia and Harlee-Rae. Cherished life partner of Neens (Janine). Adored Papa of his beloved "kids", Bella and his special mate Buddie. Tiny will be remembered and missed by his extended family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched along the way. Passed away at Taranaki Base Hospital on 21st September 2026, aged 96. Cherished wife of Ian Virtue (deceased). Dearly loved mother of Rae, Bruce and Warren, and loving grandmother to Jack, Esmeralda, Aidan, Fay and Martin. Mother-in-law to Glenys and Catherine. She will be dearly missed. Sincere thanks to the staff and carers at Jean Sandel Retirement Village. A private ceremony has been held.

26 April 1938 - 26 September 2026 Widowed of her darling Barry who she never got over losing way too soon. Loving mother of Colin, Phill (Phillip), and Shirley. Loved grandmother and great-grandmother. Friend to so many. One of the most caring people who walked this earth, she was always a giver, and the only thing she ever took was joy in helping everyone else. Loved father of Craig, Brent, Tracey and Michelle & Graham. Much loved "Pops" and "Poppa" of six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mervyn CAVEY

We are saddened to announce the passing of Mervyn George Cavey, late of Kurrimine Beach. Merv passed peacefully on the 24th of September, 2026, aged 83. Born 24th of June 1943 in New Plymouth, Okato/Manaia Taranaki was home to Merv before relocating to Australia in 1976 with his family. He later bought the Kurrimine Beach Motel with Yvonne which was his final home and favourite place to be. Merv was a much loved husband of Yvonne. Father to Naomi, Khris, Sal and Caryn. Beloved Pop of Mitchell, Robyn, Lauren, Lochlan, Joshua, Ben, Danielle, Matthew, Phoebe Jessica, Heidi and Jake. Great-grandfather to Savannah. A brother of Les (d.), Joyce, Brian (d.), Peter, Gordon (d.), Malcolm and Rodney, and a great mate to many. Merv will be dearly missed. Our family extend the invitation to those who wish to attend Merv's service which will be held at Kurrimine Beach Motel, North Queensland AUS, on the 29th of September 2026, at 10am.

Murray passed away after a long battle at Hawera Hospital on Wednesday 23rd September 2026, aged 74 years. Dearly loved husband of Christina. A loved father and step-father, grandfather and step-grandfather. Life member of Te Ngutu Golf Club. Many thanks to the New Plymouth Renal Unit, the South Taranaki Hospice, and the Hawera Hospital for their care of Murray. In accordance with Murray's wishes a celebration of his life has been held and a private cremation has now taken place. Any communication may be sent c/- 13 Victoria Street, Hawera 4610.
