92 years old. In Nelson. Born Timaru, of Nelson and lately Picton and Blenheim. Son of Rosie and Ballance. Brother of Ez. Husband of the late Jude, partner of Pam. Father to Tim, Nick, Dave and Libby. Father-in-law to Vicki, Joan, the late Carol, Claire and Stuart, the late Angus. Grandfather of Cedar, Adam, Jesse, Chris, David and Paul (Australia), Anna, James and Tom. Great-grandfather to his 13 special mokopuna. Uncle of Wendy, Richard and Vicki. Brother-in-law of the late Marion (Wellington). Brother-in-law of the late Russell and Joan Page and uncle/great-uncle of the Page family in Melbourne, Australia. There will be a function to celebrate Des' life, to be held at The Cruising Club on the Nelson Marina on Saturday, August 29, 2026, 2.00-5.00pm. A beautiful small cremation ceremony has been held, as was Des' request. Our thanks to the caring and supportive staff of Redwood Lifestyle Village Blenheim and Summerset in the Sun Nelson. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Nelson/Marlborough Hospice please.
