Whilst on holiday in Tasmania, Derek was found unexpectedly passed away on May 18, 2026, aged 76. Son of the late Walter and Rene Gissing, much loved father of Amanda and Andrea, brother and brother-in-law to Brenda and Alvin, and ex-husband of Lynette. Fondly remembered as a lover of music, Bungaberg rum, trains, and wearing socks with jandals, he will be missed.
