Passed away peacefully following a short illness on July 27, 2026, aged 83, with daughters Sophie and Laura by his side. Forever loved by his daughters, Amy, Laura and Sophie, beloved brother of Diane and the late Barry, father-in-law of Aaron and Liam, adored Pop-Pop of Freddie, Maddie, Charlie and Max, uncle of Sue and Peter, brother-in-law of John, and a loyal and treasured friend to many. Our heartfelt thanks to Dr Holly Bills and the wonderful nursing staff of Ward B2 at Burwood Hospital for their exceptional care and kindness. A celebration of Derek's life will be held in The Show Gate at Riccarton Park Racecourse on Thursday, August 6, at 2.00pm. For those unable to attend, a livestream will be available at derekfreear.com.
