NEWPORT, Robert (Blue) Lionel. Passed away peacefully on the morning of Wednesday 29th July 2026. Loved husband and best mate of Lynley. Cherished father and father-in-law of Angela and Keith, Bobby and Lena, Ben and Sam. Treasured Poppa of Isla, Liam and Alexis. Son of the late Lionel and June and adored son in law of Nancy and the late John. Loved brother-in-law and friend of Robyn and Les. Our hearts feel heavy as Poppa Blue sets sail one last time, we will miss him dearly. We are so grateful that we got to share his love for adventure, his enthusiasm and magical way of bringing people together, his love for life, learning and teaching, and of course his infectious laugh and brilliant sense of humour. Wishing him fair winds and smooth seas on his journey to his tropical paradise. Blue will be laid to rest with a private family burial. Following his burial a shared celebration of his life will be held at the Okaihau Community Hall on Thursday 6th August from 2pm. Blue will be in the care of Squire Funeral Services, 15 Wihongi Street, Kaikohe. Members of the community are welcome to arrange a time to visit Blue between the hours of 9am and 4.30pm from Monday 3rd August through to Wednesday 5th August.
