Richard JOHNSON

JOHNSON, Richard Barton (QSO, JP). Of Mt Torlesse, Springfield, and Christchurch, Canterbury: On August 10, 2026, passed away peacefully, aged 94 years. Dearly loved husband of the late Virginia, loved father and father-in-law of Anna and David Abbott, Cindy and David Douglas, Fiona and William Stevens, and Rick and Leanne Johnson, loved Tig of George, Sophie; Polly, Ben, Lucy; James, Richard; Angus, and Georgia, and their partners and children. Loved friend and cousin of Ann Quin, loved son, brother, great grandfather, uncle, cousin, and a loved and respected friend and colleague. Sincere thanks to Dr Jim Galvin, and to the staff of Merivale Retirement Village for their exceptional care of Richard.

The funeral service to celebrate Richard's life will be held at the Christchurch Transitional Cathedral, 234 Hereford Street, Christchurch Central City, on Thursday, August 20, at 11.00am, private burial to follow.
