Died 1 August 2026Posted 3 August 2026

ASKEW, Jennie Mae. Peacefully at home in Riwaka on 1 August 2026, aged 96 years. Much loved and treasured daughter of the late Ivy and Cyril Askew of Riwaka, sister of the late Pat Litherland and the late Ed Askew, sister and sister-in-law of Judy and Russell Hodge, aunt of Mark, Joanne and Shelley, Annette and Peter, great-aunt of Ted, George and Sebastian, Kent, Lee and Adam, Matt and Tessa, Keshia and Ryan, Kate and Dylan, great-great aunt of Riley. Loved also by their partners and wider families. Jennie followed the lives of her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great nephew with genuine delight, never once forgot a birthday and met the world with unwavering positivity and kindness. She was happiest with a fishing rod in her hand, tending her garden or being involved in her community groups. Jennie will be remembered for her quiet faith, unfailing warmth, her gentle encouragement and for never having a critical word to say about anyone. At Jennie's wishes a private cremation has been held.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at a later date. Instead of flowers a donation can be made to St Andrew's Uniting Church, Motueka.

Forever in our hearts.
