HORI, Gilmour Paraone (Gilly). Passed away peacefully on Saturday, 15 August 2026, aged 89 years. Son of the late Amelia and Takimoana France Hori. Deeply loved Dad and father-in-law of Jason and Maria, Justine and Petero, and Mantee. Proud Grandad of Jessica and Simon, Alyssia, Vincent and Leilani-Grace, Melanie and Sila, Zach and Caitlyn, and Jesse. Treasured Great-Grandad of Sofia and Jordan, who affectionately knew him as "Little Grandad." Dad, you truly were an enigma endlessly interesting, completely one of a kind and such a cool person. You loved your family deeply and beamed with pride as you listened to our stories and celebrated our achievements. You valued determination, hard work and education, and genuinely admired people who forged their own paths in life. You had your quirks, but they were endearing, unmistakably yours and part of what made you so special. A special thank you to our mum, Lorraine, for the love and support she gave Dad and for helping to care for him. Dad will be brought home to Te Touwai Marae, Wainui Road, Kaeo. His funeral service will be held there at 10.00 am on Saturday, 22 August 2026, followed by his burial in the whānau urupā. In the early hours of Friday morning, your final words repeated six times were "In Jesus' name, amen." Those words bring us comfort, knowing that you are now at peace. Rest well, Dad. We are taking you home to be with your whānau. We love you so very much.
