Derek CHRISTIE

Christie, Derek. Passed away Saturday 20th of June aged 83 years. Husband, best friend and soulmate of Catherine; kindly big brother to Rose and Michael; loving father and dispenser of sage advice to Stephanie and Robin; father-in-law and good friend to Paul and Toni; Pappy and inventor of clever tricks to Tosca, Max, and Tui; kindly and mischievous grandfather-in-law to Poppy and Simon. Derek lived a life full of meaning, and as a popular teacher and mentor he influenced many people of all ages and backgrounds. A specialist biostatistician who was a friend to birds, bats, numbers, fossils and obscure poetry, Derek will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Derek's memorial service will be held at 2pm this Saturday 27 June at Hope Family Funerals, 2A Loop Road, RD 6, Tauranga 3176.
